Kuantan Port Hub’s cold chain is anchored by KPC’s berth-side cold rooms and a ring of 3PL-operated bonded facilities handling frozen fish transshipment, cocoa inbound, poultry inputs, and agro-food exports across the East Coast Expressway and Central Spine Road corridors.
Kuantan Port Hub is not a Wall Street story. It is a berth-and-bund story. The port receives frozen fish from Chendor and Tok Bali trawlers, unloads cocoa mass for MCKIP processing plants, and dispatches halal poultry parts to east-coast consumers. Below are the ten cold chain warehouses actually doing this work.
1. Kuantan Port Consortium (KPC) — Berth 7 Cold Room
The only cold store physically attached to the berth line. KPC operates a 2,500 sqm facility with a -25°C blast freezer, a 0–4°C chiller hall, and a 15°C cocoa tempering room. Running SAP EWM, it handles transshipment for frozen tilapia blocks from China and chilled coconut water for the port’s reefer container yard.
2. MCKIP Central Cargo Cold Store
Located inside the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, this KPC-managed bonded warehouse serves the park’s food processors. It has 3,000 pallet positions, VNA racking, and a dedicated quarantine chamber for imported meat. Trucks enter via the Central Spine Road gate, clear customs in 40 minutes, and head straight to chocolate and gelatin plants.
3. LKIM Kuantan Fisheries Dock Complex
The state fisheries authority’s cold room is the receiving point for about 60 tonnes of daily trawler landings. It runs a 20-tonne ice machine, a -20°C storage hall, and a wet-floor grading zone. Contract buyers from Cherating and Kuantan town collect at 5:00 AM before auction starts. This is the cheapest cold storage in the hub, but you must take delivery on LKIM’s dock schedule.
4. Harbour-Link Group — Kuantan Port Free Zone Cold Store
Harbour-Link runs a 1,200-pallet bonded cold store inside the port free zone. It is built for rubber cup lumps, frozen chicken backs, and imported beef offal. The facility uses ORBCOMM reefer telematics on its 12 refrigerated trailers and offers a direct drayage link to the East Coast Expressway interchange at Gambang. Customs inspection is done on-site.
5. Swift Integrated Logistics — Gebeng Cold Chain Depot
Seven kilometres south of the port, Swift operates a 3,000-pallet racked facility with three temperature zones: -18°C, 2–4°C, and 12°C. It serves the Gebeng petrochemical plants’ canteen suppliers and MCKIP cocoa processors. The depot’s dock has two chilled receiving doors that prevent temperature lift during afternoon handling.
6. CJ Century Plus — Kuantan Perishable Hub
CJ Century Plus runs a transloading yard for imported chilled meat that comes in via Port Klang and arrives at Kuantan by night truck. The hub has a 500-pallet chiller at 2–4°C and a blast freezer that brings boxed beef core temperature down to -18°C in 24 hours. GPS temperature loggers are attached to every outbound pallet.
7. TASCO — MeSTI-Compliant Halal Cold Room
TASCO’s Kuantan facility holds MeSTI and HACCP certification, allowing it to receive raw halal chicken from east-coast slaughterhouses and re-export to Singapore. The room uses ammonia-based refrigeration with automated defrost cycles to keep humidity below 85%. It runs on a Manhattan WMS with lot-level expiry tracking.
8. Tiong Nam Logistics — MCKIP Gateway Warehouse
Tiong Nam leased a 6,000-pallet warehouse on the MCKIP ring road. It operates blast freezers at -30°C and a high-throughput chiller for fresh produce from Cameron Highlands. Its dock schedule is built around the 2:00 PM arrival of the Central Spine Road vegetable fleet, and its picking lines are zoned by delivery route to Ganchong and Kuantan town.
9. Exact Resources — East Coast Reefer Depot
Exact runs a small but fast depot at Semambu Industrial Area with 800 pallet positions and a 14-vehicle reefer fleet. Its differentiator is the Teletrac Navman telematics system that records cargo temperature every 60 seconds and sends failure alerts to the dispatcher’s phone. It specialises in same-day runs to Kertih and Kemaman oilfield camps.
10. DHL Supply Chain — Cocoa & Dairy Contract Store
DHL operates a dedicated contract store for a cocoa processor and a dairy distributor serving Pahang schools. The store keeps cocoa liquor at 15°C and chilled milk at 4°C, with a two-door dock separator to avoid cross-temperature mixing. Its SLIM reporting system generates daily Certificate of Analysis files for the Department of Veterinary Services.
